After the news of her wedding with music composer Palaash Muchhal being cancelled, Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana has done a quiet edit on her social media. The Indian vice-captain’s fans noticed that she had deleted the “nazar” (evil eye) emoji from her Instagram bio, which has been a trigger for more conversations on the internet regarding the couple’s division.
Wedding Jinx Broken
After a couple of weeks of rumors, Smriti Mandhana and Palaash Muchhal have decided to make the news public that they are not getting married anymore. Palaash was the one to first release a public statement about the situation and later, Smriti shared a touching note asking for privacy and understanding.
In her statement, Smriti wrote:
“There has been plenty of speculation around my life. I feel it is important to clarify that the wedding is called off. I request everyone to respect the privacy of both families and allow us the space to move on.”
She also emphasized that her primary focus remains representing India on the cricket field and continuing to win trophies for the country.
Deleted Posts and Social Media Changes
Following the wedding postponement, fans began noticing multiple changes across the couple’s social media accounts:
Palaash Muchhal deleted the viral proposal video from his Instagram.
He also removed the World Cup celebration video featuring Smriti.
Smriti Mandhana deleted all photos and videos related to the engagement and pre-wedding events.
The two have reportedly unfollowed each other on Instagram.
Smriti’s teammates were also seen deleting pre-wedding posts from the celebrations.
While some posts featuring Smriti still remain on Palaash’s profile, the overall cleanup has been viewed as a strong indication that both are choosing to draw clear boundaries after the personal setback.
What Led to the Call-Off
Smriti Mandhana and Palaash Muchhal were scheduled to get married on November 23, after several days of joyous pre-wedding celebrations in Sangli. Both families were seen actively participating in festivities, dancing, and celebrating together.
However, events took an unexpected turn when Smriti’s father fell seriously ill and was hospitalized on the day of the ceremony. Soon after, Palaash was also admitted to a hospital. Their return to Mumbai sparked a wave of rumours, including allegations of infidelity, which intensified after Smriti’s rapid removal of wedding-related content.
The couple has not addressed the rumours directly.
Smriti’s Emotional Note to Fans
In her public message, Smriti chose dignity and clarity over controversy. She concluded her statement by saying:
“I believe there is a higher purpose driving us all, and for me that purpose is representing my country. I hope to continue playing and winning trophies for India. It’s time to move forward.”
