Rumours about former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s death spread wildly across social media this week, creating panic among supporters. But PTI Senator Khurram Zeeshan has now stepped forward to shut down the speculation, insisting that Khan is alive and currently being kept in Adiala Jail. 

According to Zeeshan, PTI workers have been clearly informed that Imran Khan is fine. The Senator also said the reason no recent photos have been released is because even a single image of Khan could “change the entire scenario of Pakistan” due to his massive nationwide influence. 

Imran Khan has been locked up since August 2023 due to different cases against him, and he had not been seen in public for several weeks. Then, his nonappearance gave rise to a lot of rumors without any proof saying that he was in solitary, not allowed to see his family and even that his death rites were being prepared. Yet, none of these claims have been confirmed by an official source. 

Khurram Zeeshan told ANI that no one – not even the PTI leaders, Khan’s family or lawyers – was allowed to see him, which is a violation of the most basic rights. He went on to say that the authorities are trying to handle the story about Imran Khan but he also asserted that the party has been guaranteed that Khan is fine. 

These comments came shortly after Khan’s three sisters demanded an impartial inquiry into what they described as a brutal police assault on them and PTI supporters outside Adiala Jail last week. In their letter to the Punjab Police Chief, they alleged that the attack was deliberate and unprovoked, claiming that police officials have been given a “free hand” against Khan’s supporters. 

One of the sisters, Noreen Niazi, strongly criticised the government, saying that ordinary citizens, including children and women, are being mistreated simply for supporting Imran Khan. 

Meanwhile, the Adiala Jail administration has dismissed all rumours about Khan’s health. Officials have confirmed that he has not been moved and is in good condition. Reports from Dawn and Geo News also stated that the jail authorities called the death rumours “baseless” and reiterated that Khan is receiving proper medical attention. 

For now, Imran Khan remains inside Adiala Jail, with no recent public appearance. Supporters continue to demand transparency, while authorities maintain that he is healthy and secure.
