Days before Republic Day celebrations begin in New Delhi and other major cities across India, intelligence services have issued an alert of possible terrorist danger from Khalistani groups or Bangladesh-based terror organizations during national celebrations. The alert released Saturday highlighted this possibility.
Punjab-Based Gangsters Act as Foot Soldiers for Global Leaders
According to intelligence reports provided by the Intelligence Bureau (IB), Punjab gangsters have played an instrumental role in various plots being organized against India by global extremist groups using local criminals from Punjab as “foot soldiers.” Officials at intelligence believe these criminals use extremist networks abroad as cover to plan disruptive acts within India using these criminal networks as “foot soldiers”.
Terror Network Operating in Multiple States According to security agencies, terrorist groups operating across several states include Haryana and Delhi-NCR area as well as Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, with connections developing with Khalistani terrorists becoming apparent among criminal organizations – which could pose security threats ahead of Republic Day celebrations on January 26.
Security Agencies Step Up Vigilance in Capital
Following warning, security agencies in Delhi Police and security forces have increased vigilance. Their surveillance teams have collected intelligence on any disturbances during celebrations to avoid any untoward situations during festivities.
