NEW Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has come up with the listing that includes 350 cricketers for the IPL 2026 auction. IPL auction 2026 which will be held the 16th of Dec. 16 in the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. The numbers were narrowed after extensive discussions with the ten franchises, which significantly reduced the initial number of 1,355 players registered.
Quinton de Kock Among Late Additions
In the 35 names that are new that are included in the revised roster. Quinton de Kock is the most well-known new entrant. It is the South African wicketkeeper-batter was not included in the original draft, but it was later added following the advice of an organization.
De Kock recently returned to international cricket. And impressed with an unbeaten hundred in the match against India in Visakhapatnam. And this further solidified the argument that he should be included. The 33-year old is entering the auction with the starting cost in the range of INR 1.35 crore and is half of that amount (INR two million) that Knight Riders had acquired him in the last auction. After a disappointing campaign, the club decided to let him go. He is now placed in the third lot for wicketkeeper-batters.
Sri Lankan Players Added to Final Roster
The list is updated and includes many Sri Lankan players, including Traveen Mathew, Binura Fernando, Kusal Perera as well as Dunith Wellalage who have been allowed to take part in the event on December 16.
Auction Timings and Format
In a message sent to franchisees on Monday night in the evening, the BCCI said that its auction will start at 1 pm UAE time (2:30 pm in the evening, IST).
The event will begin with players capped, separated into five categories based on role:
- Batters
- All-rounders
- Wicketkeeper-batters
- Fast bowlers
- Spin bowlers
The next step will be non-capped players in the same categories.
The batters’ first batch (BA1) is led by Cameron Green, alongside Devon Conway, Jake Fraser-McGurk Sarfaraz Khan Prithvi Shaw, and David Miller also in the first set. Venkatesh Iyer is included in the second set of players who are all rounders (AL1).
Accelerated Phase to Start After Player No. 70
In accordance with the schedule provided by the BCCI The accelerated phase of auction will start following the player No. 70, who is Afghanistan’s Wahidullah Zadran.
“The initial accelerated phase will be for players with numbers ranging from between 71 and 350. After these players have been presented to franchises, they will be asked to provide names of playerseither un-sold or not presented — from the full list of 350 to be considered for an additional accelerated round,” the BCCI clarified.
The list of finalised items reflects specific franchise needs, with some new players securing a later admission to the pool of auction.
