The release date for Akhanda 2 — the much-anticipated Telugu sequel featuring Nandamuri Balakrishna – has been delayed for a while, only hours prior to its scheduled worldwide release date of December 5 2025.
The production company 14 Reels Plus LLP announced the 4th of December, in the late hours. That the film was not going to launch “due to unforeseen circumstances” calling it a difficult decision. And apologized to its disappointed supporters.
The reports suggest that the sudden stop is a result of the deep-rooted financial and legal issues. For instance, in Tamil Nadu, a court dispute with Eros International Media Limited has resulted in an order of stay that was issued by the division bench at Madras High Court, on the grounds it is believed that 14 Reels Plus is linked to the former organization 14 Reels Entertainment Private Limited that owes Eros around Rs28 crore as part of an arbitral decision.
Furthermore, financial difficulties are believed to have impacted the distribution infrastructure of the film such as the paid premieres scheduled for December 4 were canceled as well as international Key Delivery Messages (KDMs) -required to allow digital screenings weren’t approved. These issues caused uncertainty about the distribution of the film.
So far there is no date for a new release is announced. The creators say they’re trying to solve the issue however until then, fans must remain patient.
