Love in Jail, Marriage on Parole: The Unusual Wedding of Two Life Convicts in Rajasthan

A twist of fate brought Priya Seth and Hanuman Prasad together, though bars once kept them apart. One moment they faced years without freedom, the next stood hand in hand under a canopy of marigolds. Their paths crossed where few expect love to grow – inside stone corridors lit by narrow windows. A court decision opened gates that seemed sealed forever, allowing fifteen daylight hours beyond confinement. Not for escape, but for vows spoken before family and dusty courtyard earth. Each had carried guilt from past acts, yet found something unspoken in shared silences. The union took place far from city noise, deep in Alwar’s quiet lanes. Names changed on paper, while guards waited nearby, watching what law rarely permits. What began as letters folded into envelopes turned real beneath open sky.

A short break from jail came through help by the Rajasthan High Court, letting them taste ordinary days again. Though locked behind bars, people still find ways to grow close. The ceremony takes place at Hanuman Prasad’s old family house in Barodamev village. Customs are followed carefully while they remain watched closely throughout their time outside.

Love Grew in an Open Prison

A year back, Priya Seth crossed paths with Hanuman Prasad inside the open-air setup of Sanganer Jail near Jaipur. Their arrival followed a shift from the tighter walls of Jaipur Central, guided by rules laid out in 1972 for outdoor prison camps. These low-security zones aim to reshape lives through space that feels more like work than punishment. Movement here includes jobs outside cells, visits from relatives, daily routines without constant locks. Freedom comes slow, yet it arrives in pieces – less fencing, shared tasks, time spent rebuilding trust instead of counting bars.

One day, things shifted – what started as just knowing each other grew quieter, closer. Over months, space between them narrowed; sources say they ended up sharing quarters inside the open prison, like partners would. By late 2025, without warning, they told relatives about making it official – news that unsettled people, considering where they came from and the long terms hanging over them.

Soon after printing the wedding invites, they still faced the problem of being locked up. Come December, both filed for temporary release. Their request made it to the Rajasthan High Court, where on January 7 an order came: rule on it within one week. Through all this, Vishram Prajapati stood by them as their lawyer. By week’s end, approval arrived – fifteen days free starting midweek, just enough time to tie the knot before going back behind bars.

A Dark Past Behind the Wedding Smiles

What stands out about the ceremony isn’t just its courtroom drama or heartfelt moments – Priya brings a history that stirs debate, much like Hanuman does in his own right. Though crowds watch closely, few seem ready to face what each of them truly represents.

Thirty four year old Priya Seth stands at the center of a killing that happened in Jaipur back in 2018. Police reports claim she connected with Dushyant Sharma using Tinder, a platform meant for meeting people. From there, it seems she persuaded him to come to a rented apartment located in Bajaj Nagar. Inside, another man named Dikshant Kamra – her partner at the time – and someone else joined her in holding Dushyant against his will. They asked for ten lakh rupees from his relatives as payment for release. Even after three lakhs reached their account, fear took over; they worried he would talk. So instead, they ended his life by tightening something around his neck. What followed was grim – the remains were cut apart, packed into luggage, then left behind in the Amer hillside. Life in prison was handed down to Priya by a district court back in November of 2023. At the same time, Dikshant Kamra ended up with an identical punishment for his part in that very case.

One night in October 2017, everything changed on Shivaji Park. Five people – Banwari Lal Sharma, his three sons, plus a nephew – were attacked without warning. Hanuman Prasad stood trial years later, by then aged 29. The case shook Alwar down to its core. Rumors had long swirled about him and Santosh Sharma, Banwari’s wife.

That connection became central to what followed. According to prosecutors, distrust around their bond sparked something darker. Together, they supposedly planned each step ahead of time. What began as whispers ended in bloodshed under cover of dark. Fifty months ago, one after another, they got life behind bars. From a house search came clothing soaked in blood – also the knife used – and items that mattered just as much.

Now living apart from past relationships, one convict chose a split from Santosh Sharma – Hanuman made that call. Priya, on her own path, left Dikshant Kamra behind without looking back.

The wedding card said it started January 21 – three days full of lucky customs right from the beginning. Next day came chakh bhat, quiet but steady in its way. Friday afternoon brings the groom’s arrival, moving slow through streets. At Hauli Chowk in Barodamev, people will gather later, eating together under open sky.

When the parole finishes, Priya Seth along with Hanuman Prasad must go back to jail to complete their life terms – walking away from a marriage that stirred talk, raised questions, made people pause about love, fairness, second chances inside Indian prisons.
