10 Army Soldiers Martyred, 11 Injured as Armoured Vehicle Falls into Gorge in Doda

Early Thursday morning, near Khani Top in Doda district, an armored troop carrier veered off the Bhaderwah–Champa highway and dropped around two hundred feet into a steep ravine. The crash claimed the lives of ten Indian Army personnel while leaving eleven more wounded. This deadly incident unfolded along a remote mountain route often used for military transport through rugged terrain. Extreme weather conditions may have played a role in the loss of control. Rescue teams reached the site hours later amid freezing temperatures and poor visibility. High-elevation roads like this one pose constant risks during winter patrols.

Around eleven in the morning, something went wrong near Bhaderwah – about twenty-five kilometers out. On a snowy stretch where roads turned slick from too much buildup, a military transport lost grip mid-turn. That vehicle, known as a Casspir, is built tough against ambushes yet still struggled on the ice. Inside were two dozen soldiers, moving steadily until the bend caught them off guard. Control slipped quickly once wheels skated across packed frost, officials noted later. Twenty-one service members had been riding through worsening conditions that day.

Ahead of dawn, troops moved toward Padri Hill Top to carry out standard patrols at height plus assert presence across terrain – so stated a top-ranking officer. Snow had fallen hard through those parts, turning pathways slippery while shrinking what could be seen.

Right away, people from the area showed up, followed by officers, military staff, and emergency crews, all moving fast toward the crash site despite rough terrain and poor visibility. From deep within the ravine, fallen troops were carried out carefully, their remains handled with care amid gusting winds and shifting rocks.

Those still alive were freed from twisted metal, then moved quickly – over uneven ground – to clinics close by where doctors began working without delay. Conditions stayed tough throughout, yet efforts continued through fading light and rising cold.

From the start, ten troops did not survive, Deputy Commissioner Doda Harvinder Singh stated. Eleven ended up hurt instead, one only slightly. Flown by air later, ten of those wounded reached Command Hospital in Udhampur. Specialised treatment awaited them there. Reports at first described their state as critical.

Among those who died were Soban Jeet, followed by Sudheer Narwal. Monu came next, then Mohit appeared on the list. After him stood HR Kanvar, while Simran was also named. PR Lora joined their number, along with Sulinder. Ajay Lofra made nine, ending with Swaran Nagpal.

In the group of wounded troops you’ll find Sahil. Among them is also JP Singh. Neeraj shows up on that list too. Then there’s Anoop, part of this moment. Nagis belongs here as well. Aman appears among the names now. You can’t miss Shanker either. Sandeep made it onto the record. Jobanpreet stands listed today. Rakesh joins the count slowly. The last name given is Abhimanyu.

FIR number 09/2026 was filed at Bhaderwah Police Station, covering charges under sections 281 and 125A of the BNS. The inquiry into what triggered the crash continues. Investigation moves forward as officials gather details piece by piece.

Early this morning, blood pressure stabilized in every soldier brought to Command Hospital, Udhampur. Though injuries varied, each patient responded well after emergency care unfolded under close monitoring. Scans followed – X-ray first, then CT, later MRI and ultrasound – to map internal conditions without delay. Findings confirmed no critical deterioration since arrival. Treatment continues based on imaging results and vital trends tracked through the night. Doctors adjusted medications where needed, relying on real-time data. Recovery paths differ slightly, yet all remain within expected clinical ranges. Updates will follow as shifts in condition occur, nothing before.

One soldier got minor wounds, though others faced worse harm – broken bones, damaged spines, crushed chests, even torn skin. Medical teams moved fast, sorting each case by urgency, starting surgeries where needed right away.

Some are now on critical care beds, watched closely hour by hour. Treatment follows strict hospital priority rules, adjusting as conditions shift overnight. Doctors keep records updated through shifts, noting every small change without delay. Machines beep steadily around them, tracking breaths, pulses, pressure levels nonstop. The unit stays quiet except for footsteps and low voices near curtains drawn tight. Each bed holds a story not spoken out loud, just handled with steady hands. Recovery will take days, maybe weeks, depending on how bodies respond by morning.

A wave of sorrow swept through Dr Jitendra Singh upon hearing the news. Those left behind will feel the weight of loss most heavily, he said. Support from officials will reach every wounded soldier without delay. Grief poured out toward kin who lost loved ones in service. Aid is already moving forward, quietly, through proper channels. Comfort won’t come fast – but presence matters. Each affected household will be met directly by support teams.

Filled with sorrow, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha responded to the tragedy, calling the deaths of ten courageous troops a wound felt across India. Though words fall short, he reached out to grieving relatives with heartfelt sympathy. Medical care for those hurt must be top priority, he insisted, urging full support without delay.

Few moments after the news broke, Omar Abdullah spoke up – relief clear in his voice over how fast teams responded. Lives were lost, he said, yet courage showed through those pulling others from danger. Families mourning their soldiers heard his words of sorrow, quiet but firm. Those still healing, hurt but alive, received hopes for strength and return to health.

A salute rose through the ranks of the Army’s Northern Command, under Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, honoring those lost while standing beside grieving kin. Though sorrow hung heavy, the White Knight Corps called the event a tragic loss – yet still lifted up the courage shown in duty and final act.

Heavy skies pressed down as the crash brought fresh attention to soldiers’ dangers. Not just bullets matter – cold, steep ground plays its part too. Each mission carries weight when landscapes turn harsh and visibility fades without warning.
