Deepti Sharma, who belonged to the top position in the ICC Women’s T20 International bowlers ranking for her country, India, has lost that position, while Australian player Annabel Sutherland has once again reached the top position in the ICC ranking, as announced by the ICC in their recent update, following the final T20 international between India and Sri Lanka, which was won by the former by 15 runs.
Annabel Sutherland has noticed considerable improvement regarding her position after the update. The Australian speedster all-rounder is again at the top after the downfall of Deepti Sharma. They have the same number of rating points at 736. Thus, the level of competition at the top is never this close. It is the same rating that Sutherland possessed at the time she earned the position of the No. 1 T20I bowler in August 2025.
Sutherland had before got the top position when the Pakistan spinner Sadia Iqbal was pushed down by the rankings. Since then, she has been showing consistent performances which contributed to her regain of the title. The ability to deliver when it matters the most has made her one of the most precious assets in women’s cricket today.
Deepti Sharma, though losing her lead position, is always felt to be one of the most consistent players in India. In their last T20 International Match against Sri Lanka, she played a remarkable innings, and Statistics indicate that she has taken 1 wicket for 28 runs. This has, as yet, not been enough for her to attain a No.1 position in her category as a bowler, but she has shown a very remarkable performance. Deepti still stands at the second position in her category as a bowler, though she is only one rating point short of Sutherland.
Deepti also held her strong position in the ICC Women’s T20I all-rounder rankings. She is now at the third position with 382 points, which shows her worth as a player who can impact the match with bat as well as ball.
The batting rankings also had good news for India. Harmanpreet Kaur, who is the captain has gotten better. Moved up two spots to reach the 13th position in the ICC Women’s T20I batting rankings. This is because Harmanpreet Kaur played a great game that helped her team win during the last T20I game, at Thiruvananthapuram. Harmanpreet Kaur did a job and that is why she is now doing so well in the ICC Women’s T20I batting rankings.
Harmanpreet played a game. She scored 68 runs off 43 balls. Harmanpreet showed control and confidence when things got tough. This helped India win the match. Because of this Harmanpreet got the Player of the Match award. Harmanpreet is really good, at batting. She did well that she made it to the top 10 global batting rankings. Harmanpreets performance was very important.
The current ranking system shows that top players face intense competition, while Indian competitors continue to achieve success on international platforms.
