IndiGo cancels 73 flights at Bengaluru airport amid nationwide pilot-shortage crisis

On the 4th of December 2025 IndiGo suspended 73 flight at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru in Bengaluru alone. This was one of the largest waves in cancellations all across India which left at most 175 IndiGo flights grounded.

The airline blamed its problems on recent safety regulations which tightened the rules for crew duty-time. The new rules imposed stricter resting and scheduling rules for pilots. IndiGo seems to be in a position to change its roster on the time.

The interruption has disrupted travel plans for thousands customers, causing IndiGo to lose its fame for being punctual.

IndiGo has announced it will make “calibrated adjustments” to its schedule in the coming 48 hours, in the hopes of getting back to normal operations.
