Cyclonic Storm Senyar has formed in the Strait of Malacca after a deep depression grew stronger early on Wednesday, as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The storm is likely to move westward before making landfall on the Indonesia coast in the early day of the 26th November. It will then be slowing down.
Alongside Senyar Another weather pattern in the Southwest Bay of Bengal has intensified into a well-marked low pressure area. As as 5.30 am IST it was extended to areas in the southeast of Sri Lanka and the Equatorial Indian Ocean. IMD predicts that this storm could develop to become a depression in less than 24 hours. possibly leading to heavy rainfall across the southern region of India
Cyclone Path & Movement
IMD noted that Senyar will maintain its cyclonic strength for roughly 24 hours. After crossing Indonesia’s coastline, the system is expected to shift west-southwestwards and later recurve toward the east over the following two days.
The name “Senyar”, meaning lion, was suggested by the United Arab Emirates for the North Indian Ocean cyclone naming list. IMD assigns such names only when a deep depression intensifies into a cyclonic storm.

Very heavy rain is expected in:
- Tamil Nadu: November 28–30
- Andaman & Nicobar Islands: November 26–27
- Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam & Rayalaseema: November 30

Gusty winds are expected to reach 30-40 km/h by November 29. They will be 40-50 km/h on November 25. Then, winds will increase to 50-60 km/h from November 26 to 28.
