Ayodhya Ram Temple: PM Modi Hoists Saffron Flag to Mark Construction Completion

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, hoisted the saffron Dharma Dhwaj at the newly built Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The ceremony marked the official completion of the temple’s construction.

The flag, a right-angled triangular saffron banner measuring 10 feet in height and 20 feet in length, carried symbolic elements including a radiant Sun representing Lord Ram’s courage, an ‘Om’ symbol, and the Kovidara tree. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath were present during the event.

Addressing the gathering, PM Modi said,
“Today, Ayodhya is witnessing another remarkable moment in India’s cultural journey. The hoisting of this flag to celebrate the completion of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple is divine and unforgettable. Siyawar Ramchandra ki Jai.”

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath called the temple a symbol of the faith and self-respect of 140 crore Indians.

“This historic day is dedicated to the saints, devotees and brave individuals who spent their lives in the movement for the temple. The divine timing of Vivah Panchami has made this celebration even more sacred,” he said.

He added that the saffron flag represents the immortality of religious values and the spirit of Ram Rajya.

“This flag is also a symbol of truth, dignity, justice and national duty. Today we are witnessing a New India, where development and heritage move together,” he said.

Devotional Atmosphere

Earlier in the day, Ayodhya was filled with chants of “Jai Shri Ram” as thousands of devotees arrived to witness the ceremony. Seers and pilgrims described the flag-hoisting, known as Dhwaj Arohan, as a significant spiritual milestone.

The temple city was under an extensive security plan. Authorities deployed 6,970 personnel including ATS commandos, NSG snipers, technical teams, cyber experts and anti-drone units. All entry points were monitored, and vehicles were thoroughly checked.

Bomb squads, dog squads, fire response units, rapid response teams and VVIP protection units were placed across key areas. Senior officials oversaw security screening, crowd control and emergency arrangements.

Prime Minister’s Visit Inside the Temple

During his visit, the Prime Minister also prayed at the Ram Darbar Garbh Grah and the Ram Lalla sanctum. He then visited the Saptmandir, Sheshavtar Mandir and the Mata Annapurna temple.

The temple architecture includes 87 carved stone panels depicting scenes from the Valmiki Ramayana on the outer walls, and 79 bronze artworks reflecting key moments from Indian culture along the enclosure walls.
