Delhi Car Blast Near Red Fort Declared Terrorist Attack: Govt Passes Resolution, PM Modi Visits Victims

New Delhi, November 12: The Indian government has officially declared the Delhi car explosion near the Red Fort as a terrorist incident, following a high-level Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced during a Cabinet briefing that a resolution had been passed condemning the “heinous act perpetrated by anti-national forces.” The explosion, which occurred near Gate No. 1 of the Lal Quila Metro Station on November 10, claimed at least twelve lives and left several others injured.

“The country has witnessed a heinous terrorist incident through a car explosion near Red Fort. Vaishnaw said that the Cabinet has directed investigators to pursue the case with utmost urgency and professionalism to quickly bring the perpetrators, collaborators, and sponsors to justice.

He further reiterated India’s firm stance on terrorism, declaring:

“The Cabinet unequivocally condemns this cowardly act and reaffirms India’s policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.”

The minister also acknowledged the global support India has received following the attack, stating that the government “appreciates the statements of solidarity from many nations.”

PM Modi Visits Injured Victims at LNJP Hospital

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) Hospital in Delhi to meet those injured in the blast. Returning from a two-day visit to Bhutan, Modi drove directly to the hospital, interacted with the victims, and wished them a speedy recovery.

Senior doctors and officials briefed the Prime Minister on the victims’ health conditions and the ongoing treatment procedures.

Details of the Red Fort Car Blast

According to officials, a Hyundai i20 car exploded near the Red Fort Metro Station around 7 p.m. on Monday evening. Preliminary post-mortem reports revealed that the victims suffered multiple fractures, head trauma, and severe internal injuries, including ruptured lungs and eardrums, indicating the sheer force of the blast.

Investigators are currently examining CCTV footage and forensic evidence to determine the origin and intent behind the explosion. Authorities have tightened security across Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Uttarakhand following the incident.
