Veteran Bollywood actor Govinda was rushed to a hospital in Mumbai’s Juhu area after reportedly losing consciousness on Tuesday. The 60-year-old actor, who recently joined the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, had earlier in the day visited legendary actor Dharmendra at Breach Candy Hospital. According to initial reports, Govinda suddenly felt unwell after returning home and was immediately taken to the hospital by his family members.
Hospital sources have indicated that Govinda is currently in stable condition and under observation. Doctors are conducting a series of tests to determine the exact cause of his sudden fainting episode. Family members have requested privacy while confirming that there is “no cause for panic.”
The 2024 Gunshot Incident
This isn’t the first time Govinda’s health has made headlines. In October 2024, the actor was admitted to the same Juhu hospital after an accidental gunshot injury. The incident occurred when Govinda accidentally shot himself in the leg with his licensed revolver while preparing for a show in Kolkata.
The mishap triggered a police investigation, which later confirmed the actor’s statement that it was a genuine accident. Recalling the incident, Govinda said that the firearm slipped from his hand while he was placing it back into a cupboard. Fortunately, the injury was minor, and he made a full recovery after a brief hospital stay.
When asked why he owned a firearm, Govinda offered a philosophical response:
“Fame is a flame, and you have to be aware of the flame which is around you. Success brings love, but it also brings competition and jealousy. Still, I don’t want this incident to be linked to anyone or anything, there should be no misconceptions around it.”
